Here is a sample of Proxenus successes.
Commercialising technology
ROBOTIC TARGETRY FOR ALL CAVALRY CORPS
Complex technologies can consume enormous budgets and are challenged by massive integration issues. Proxenus enabled a cost-effective option by working with Deakin and the ADF to bring the RAIDER system to the market. RAIDER is a technology developed by Australia’s Deakin University that is aligned with ADF requirements for simplicity and flexibility. It is a live, moving target that can be engaged by vehicle mounted and static direct fire weapon systems in the combined arms spectrum. Proxenus helped commercialise this technology and acquired several systems for Australia’s Regular Army.
Half the cost in half the time
COMBAT SHOOTING TRAINING WITH REALISTIC TARGETS
Hitting the bulls-eye of a moving or obscured target is critical in combat situations. Proxenus completed the job quickly, effectively, adhering to all required regulations. And we provided both opportunities to Defence and local industry.
Proxenus integrates realistic targets onto all Army ranges. These include photo-realistic targets, moving targets, and targets that provide instant feedback to the firer such as steel targets. Integration has been on outdoor ranges, mechanical ranges, make-shift ranges and indoor ranges.
Estimates suggested the task would take several years. During critical periods of the project, Proxenus achieved in hours what was expected to take weeks. Proxenus shortened the entire project to a few months. Imagine the cost savings simply in not employing a contractor for extended periods of time, paying their unnecessary overheads?
EXPANDING DEFENCE’S SUPPLIER POOL
As a supplier, you may find the Defence industry complex and not necessarily easy to understand. It can take considerable time and effort to get across content and accurately understand Defence’s diverse needs in detail. Many suppliers don’t have this time and don’t want to miss opportunities while getting up to speed.
Proxenus already has extensive Defence knowledge and can support you to expand our pool of Defence opportunities quickly. We also engage with industries outside of the Defence supply chain. Recently, for example, we sourced quality materials and imagery with a supplier who wasn’t known to Defence. The supplier therefore expanded their business in Defence.
TEST AND EVALUATION OF STEEL TARGETS
Developing technologies is risky, costly and time consuming. Proxenus navigated these issues to organise and manage rapid prototyping and development (RPDE) of steel targets. Our development and evaluation program supported Defence’s procurement and use of steel targetry, also being conducted by Proxenus. Developing technical documentation and leading technical certifiers through every step of the process, we provided the objective quality evidence required for certification and the introduction into service of a key combat enabler for Australia’s Army.
